Localized Search Marketing
Localized Search results are now available for all searches on the web through the Google network. If you search for “Pizza” on Google you will now get customized search results based on your IP address. If potential customers in your area search Google for your niche keywords, you NEED to have several actions in place so that you show up on the 1st page.
Google announced on April 6th, 2009 that it would be providing local search results around the globe for all searches, including non-geo modified searches. Geo modified searches include city, state, or regional references in the search query. For example, “Gym San Diego” or “pizza restaurant hillcrest” are both geo modified searches. Now that Google has updated it’s search algorithm to help users find exactly what they want, website owners who depend on local customers must make changes to their website as well as doing several off page SEO actions in order to compete on the 1st page.
Take a look at the screenshot below.

You can see that the search phrase “restaurants” shows all local businesses on both paid advertising (PPC) as well as the organic (non-paid) search results via the Google Business directory and natural search results. Understanding how Google is doing this and what to do so you can show up on the 1st page can help you continue to grow your business.
